A Vision for the Future of Nature and Water in Southeastern Colorado

Don Siecke and Sam Perry have always enjoyed the natural settings of the Maria Lake Ranch, with its extensive vistas of Spanish Peak and its trophy trout. In addition, they work closely with local communities to ensure that the water in the lake can be used to support local economic activity and growth.

To protect this important asset, Don and Sam decided to start the Maria Lake Mitigation Bank to improve wildlife habitat and water quality in Huerfano County. In addition, the credits from the mitigation bank will support economic development in urban and rural communities across southeastern Colorado.

The Maria Lake Mitigation Bank is managed by Ben Guillon from Conservation Investment Management.
